I have amazed scores of friends doing this. I had my engineers check it out and it is indeed an optical illusion. Great fun. Jerry Mosley. Anonymous of Petaluma, California on said: Just went to the Petaluma one at about at night and had quite a bad experience. We stopped there and about 5 seconds after we were being pulled at about 15 mph and we hit a fence and got stuck in a ditch.
I got out to push the car with a buddy and the car started going towards us which was creepy but finally it gained traction Andy other friend drove out.
The fence was barbed wire of course so lots of scratches. I have no clue how it got to go this fast though in neutral up and over the hill and into a fence though it makes no sense.
Ed of Taft, California on said: The gravity hill between Taft and fellows is no longer marked at the highway. But still very much exists. And you can put a carpenters level on the road and the bubble is slightly off to the north. And yes with the car in neutral and brake off it will roll to the north. It is half way between Taft and felllows. Take A st. West to fellows and abut 3 miles there is a group of trees that look as though they don't belong. And straight across the road is the bumpy paved road known as gravity hill.
Dani of moorpark, californiA on said: there are two "gravity hills" in Moorpark. One is by the college im not sure where and one is on happy camp road I believe the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th hill on the street. Ray of Santa Paula , CA. Santa Paula CA. It's a scary spot especially at night u see things.
For full effect, visit the site at night and find a local to guide you there. There are no streetlights in the area, and if the local is really on his game he'll talk about the couple that was murdered not too far from there by the Zodiac.
Before the area was heavily populated were able to go over the hill and roll all the way past Valley View High School. The story I was told is kind of a mixture of all 3 above- A priest was driving a van one night with many children inside sleeping.
The van began to break down and as he got off to check what had happend he noticed a tire in the rear had popped. He took out the spare and began jacking up the van in order to put the spare tire on. As he was doing this one of the kids woke up and noticed what was going on.
In the distance they could hear a car coming. Louder and louder they heard the car approching and it's music blarring inside, but no headlights.
As the priest realized the proximity of the vehicle, he jumped up in concern and banged on the window for the children to wake up. The child which was already awake started yelling for the others to awake. Before they could jump out of the van, the vehicle with the headlights off came up behind them and rear ended them killing all the children and the priest. Now when you park there you hear the priest bang on the back of the car right before him and the children start pushing it up the hill to protect you from being hit.
I showed a lot of girls how it works It is indeed an optical illusion of not the road but the landscape surrounding it. Celeste Spadoni of Santa Rosa, Ca on said: I remember when I was 15 I went to gravity hill with friends and yes its crazy because the car really does get pushed by something!
The Gursky family has been involved in agriculture for three generations. The dairy grew into a feedlot and the business became "Gursky and Sons Livestock Company" in after my brother, Barry, and I graduated from agricultural management programs at Cal Poly and Davis. Unfortunately, in , the cattle market declined, we lost the ranch to the bank and moved into Brentwood, finding other employment and starting over. I always take friends to see the great view from the top of rose hills but always before we leave you must check out this trippy hill.

Anonymous of CA on said: 15 years ago, while in highschool we used to go to Empire Road in Antioch and it was really scary at night. We used to cross the gates of hell and I recall experiencing strange sensations. Also the slaughter house was really scary, I only ever went at night but there were still meat hooks and frighting machinery still left.
We also used to go into the old metal barns and one of my friends climbed the water tower and then claimed he was stuck, just to mess with us. I don't recall a story about an insane asylum, but the story I recall was children would push our car away from the gates of hell to protect us. Our car always moved away from the slaughter house and the gates of hell, no matter what vehicle we took.
Anthony of Antioch, CA on said: Just wanted to clear a couple of things up about the area on Empire Mine road with the totally bogus "gravity hill. I tried it many times and darn it my truck never moved.
Also, there was never an insane asylum up there either. I talked to a guy who owned property there and he said that has been a local legend for a very long time. And finally, there is a former meat processing plant there but whether it is haunted has yet to be proved. All legends totally bunk. Deanna Ramirez of North hills , California on said: I've been there its alright I guess nothing really but kids playing with you nd it be car does move bye it self if yhu put it on neutral you have to be there at the time they wanna play.
My husband, son who weighs lbs. Anyways he got off on the ramp and did that whole putting it in nuetral.. We started rolling uphill instead of down On the i8 I can definitly argue that it was steep enough for us to go down instead of up I think its magnetic who knows whats under all them mountains???? It sure didnt look like the area around us was down hill or youd think it would do the same a few ft. We would park on the the hill and roll up. Strange feeling.
