We helped the husband grill an insane amount of shrimp and then watched in horror as he threw ungutted, whole fish onto the grill as well.

I am not a seafood person, and after this dinner probably never will be. The shrimp was good, but then came the grilled fish. I didn't want to be rude and decline their food, so I was forced to eat the two fish they gave me.

I didn't even know how to eat it at first and spent a few minutes just watching those around me until I was finally brave enough to try poking at it with chopsticks myself. I really couldn't get over this dead fish staring up at me from my plate, and had some pretty serious issues with the tiny little bones and organs that were still inside the fish. I may or may not have been dropping bits down to their dog so that I didn't have to eat the whole thing.

Despite the fish, however, it was a wonderful opportunity to talk to the owner and other guests and was a really pleasant evening. Although, I don't ever plan on trying fish again lol. Our final stop in Vietnam was another 45 minutes north in Danang.

Jeremy has a good friend from home that lived there until he was about 7, and it was really cool to see where he spent part of his childhood. We only spent a couple days there, so our main stop was at a pagoda up on the hill to see the giant Lady Buddha statue.

The statue is 60 meters tall and absolutely gorgeous, as was the surrounding plants, flowers and pagoda. It was also the most peaceful place we had been in Vietnam and the longest we went without hearing horns blaring every other second. Sidenote: the driving in Vietnam is absolutely insane. People honk to let you know they're passing, honk to tell you to move, honk to ask if you want a taxi, and sometimes honk for apparently no reason at all.

Needless to say, we were pretty freaking over car horns at this point, and a nice quite area really appealed to us. On our last night before the airport we got to see one of the coolest bridges ever, the Dragon Bridge, which changes colors and at 9pm every night shot fire out of its mouth. After a pretty miserable two days of travel we made it out of Vietnam and to Indonesia where we are currently on an island called Nusa Lembongan doing some more diving and surfing. I'll tell you all about it in our next post.

Until then, much love everyone! We're looking forward to seeing you all in a few weeks when we get home. Older Posts Home.
